Performing arts and aged care workshop
Therapeutic clowning is an internationally growing artform, popularised by Patch Adams and the Clown Doctors, amongst others. The practice is designed to offer humanity, joy and connection to institutionalised spaces such as healthcare and aged care.
In therapeutic clowning, the skills of a professional performing artist are sensitively adapted to the needs of people living and working in these sometimes de-humanising spaces. The aim is to elicit levity and connection with society’s most vulnerable people, while supporting a person-centred culture for associated families and staff.
In 2025, Ali Gordon will work with a group of Illawarra artists to explore this artform in a friendly and exciting series of workshops.
